Can we use Windows Server Backup to perform an online backup and restore for Exchange DB?this
===================spa
Online backing up is OK, and in this procedure the DB don’t need to be dismount. However in online restoring the Windows Server Backup will auto dismount the DB, and after restoring is completing the DB will auto mount. So in restoring procedure , we don’t need to do anything about the DB.rest
Can we use Windows Server Backup to back up the passive DB that in DAG?orm
===================rem
Yes, we can. But for passive DB backing up that in DAG group, you must disable the Microsoft Exchange Replication service VSS writer. If the Microsoft Exchange Replication service VSS writer is enabled, the backup operation will fail. For more information please see the below article:get

If you are using different backup utility for exchange such as Symantec BE, DPM etc. you don’t need to disable Exchange Replication service VSS writer.form
Would the transaction log be removed after preforming full back up on passive DB
===================
No. DB would not be removed no matter which method you are using to back up passive DB. Since is passive, the DB would auto transfer from active DB.
So, if you want to remove the transaction logs to save space, you must backup the active DB.
