英文中有 "-"，用做連詞符，讀hyphen, 還有就是長一點的 "--"，做爲破折號，讀dash.

符號＂＊＂正解：asterisk
通信行業稱呼「＃」叫作：pound key（＃是英鎊的代號），稱呼「*」叫作：star key，數字鍵叫作：number key
就是在電子業 sharp 的解釋是最不合適的，由於 # 在曲譜中標誌升高半音，而 sharp 是「升高半音」的音樂英文術語。
在英式英語中讀"hash"，可是美國人把他念成"pound"，這一點讓英國人很憤怒。記得之前在一個論壇上看到一堆英國人在鄙視美國人，說美國人竟然把#念成pound，還敢說本身說的是英語。

至於英鎊符號£，通常稱做pounds sterling，雖然有時候不那麼講究的狀況下你能夠直接稱pound
