roff, groff名稱的來源

roff 是unix的第一個文本格式化程序，是Multics操做系統runoff程序的unix版本，runoff又是CTSS操做系統的RUNOFF程序的衍生版本。

groff是GNU版本的roff。

因此groff中的g是英文單詞GNU，r是英文單詞run，off是英文單詞off。

感受roff和markdown、html相似，都是以"runoff(跳脫)"方式實現的文本格式化語言。
